As Ghana seeks a bailout from the IMF, students in the country’s nursing and midwifery training colleges have warned the government that any move to revoke their allowances will be rejected.
“The majority of us enrolled in nursing and midwifery training schools as a result of this government’s assurance that it would reinstate the allowances that the Mahama-led administration had cut off, and the actual restoration of those allowances.
The leadership of the Student Nurses and Midwives issued a statement that read, “Even though we haven’t gotten any allowance in almost a year, we see any attempt to revoke it as a manner of denying us the access to study since we cannot pay our fees.”
