For the first quarter of 2023, a total of 544 people died in various road accidents around the nation.
In the same time frame, 3,340 traffic accidents claimed their lives.
This information was found in statistics on traffic accidents compiled by the Ghana Police Service’s Motor Traffic and Transport Bureau.
Nonetheless, compared to the same period in 2022, this study shows a decline in traffic accidents.
The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) says the decrease is a positive development for the nation because the majority of road users are obeying traffic laws.
In contrast, out of the 16 areas, the Greater Accra Region had the most crashes (1,243), while the Oti Region had the fewest (15 instances).
