The Accra Forestry Commission storehouse in Achimota has reportedly been broken into by some persons, who took various important items with them.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC)-branded shirts were worn by the attackers, who stormed the building early this morning while shouting, “Our government is now in power,” according to individuals who asked not to be named.
The Commission’s vital equipment, including 24 air conditioners and laptops, were among the stolen goods. Moreover, the trespassers made an unsuccessful attempt to take the keys of recently recovered vehicles.
The burglary has sparked worries about state-owned property protection, especially in light of the political upheavals that followed the 2024 elections. If the incident has anything to do with the current political situation, authorities have not yet confirmed this.
After being promptly notified, the police came to the site to bring everything under control. Since then, the area has been secured, and the theft is being investigated.
Investigations are still underway, and the authorities are trying to find the people who broke in.
The Forestry Commission has not yet made any public remarks regarding the tragedy, but as the inquiry progresses, more information is anticipated.
