The Ghana Education Service (GES) Management has advised parents to maintain their composure in the face of the 3-Teacher unions’ ongoing indefinite strike over the hold-up in talks over their conditions of service.
Wednesday, March 20, 2024 marked the start of the teacher unions’ indefinite strike. These unions include the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers (CCT).
But the GES says it is keeping a close eye on things and will provide guidance on “the way forward according.”
In a statement released by the GES and signed by Cassandra Twum Ampofo, Head of the Public Relations Unit, Heads of Kindergartens, Primary Schools, Junior High Schools, and Senior High Schools were instructed to “mobilize their Management teams to ensure the safety and well-being of all students in schools” by means of the Regional and District Directors.
“Regional and District Directors have further been directed to ensure that Heads keep schools opened and closely supervise all children who report to school pending further directives” the statement added.
