Ken Ofori-Atta’s wife reports that her husband had a successful robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, to treat prostate cancer.

The more than four-hour procedure was performed on Friday, June 13, 2025, as part of a treatment regimen that was initiated after a diagnosis was verified earlier this year.

His wife stated that the procedure went according to plan in a statement on Monday, June 16, and that the medical staff is now concentrating on his postoperative care.

The statement stated that the doctors were happy with the outcome of the treatment and would now put him on a postoperative regimen.

Ofori-Atta has encountered legal issues in spite of his medical condition. He did not show up for questioning in an ongoing inquiry, thus the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) designated him a fugitive.

According to the OSP, it has not been provided with official paperwork or verified medical records attesting to his incapacity to return to Ghana.

Ofori-Atta’s family has responded by requesting that the Red Notice be withdrawn in a petition to the INTERPOL Commission for the Control of Files. They contend that his health status and ongoing legal actions were not adequately taken into account when issuing the notification.

The family of Mr. Ofori-Atta has conveyed their appreciation for the prayers and support shown during this trying time. When he recovers and returns to Ghana, they have reaffirmed his pledge to work closely with the OSP.
