The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has been accused by Ken Ofori-Atta’s family of abusing its administrative authority during its probe of the former finance minister.

Four alleged cases of OSP abuse of power were mentioned by the family in a press release: “deliberate suppression and manipulation of evidence,” “violation of human rights,” “disregard of judicial proceedings and denial of due process,” and “breach of administrative justice.”

In order to get an arrest warrant against Mr. Ofori-Atta, the family alleges that the OSP falsified evidence, claiming that “the OSP has no charge stated against Mr. Ofori-Atta apart from what is stated on the Arrest Warrant as ‘Using Public office for private profit’.”

Additionally, the family claims that the OSP ignored ongoing processes in the Human Rights Court of Ghana, where a case pertaining to the incident is underway and is set to rule on June 18.

“The OSP has disregarded the ongoing proceedings in the Human Rights Court of Ghana, in which a Ruling is scheduled for 18th June, by contemptuously repeating the declaration of Mr. Ofori-Atta as a Wanted person even though Mr. Ofori-Atta was ready for a Video Recorded Interview while attending to his health to allow the OSP to elicit a Cautioned Statement until he is fit to return to Ghana,” the statement read.

The family has requested that the INTERPOL Red Notice be withdrawn and has also requested that it be deleted
