Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central Constituency, and Sylvester Tetteh, his colleague from Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro Constituency, have both smoked pipes in parliament.
This occurs just hours after the two nearly got into a brawl during Tuesday, February 13’s session of the House of Parliament.
Sources claim that Deputy Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin provided a platform for the two to express their opinions, which finally resulted in a compromise that allowed peace to reign.
Photographs and videos taken in Parliament showed the two MPs beaming broadly next to each other, with Mr. Afenyo-Markin and Majority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh helping to put the hatchet down.
The Effutu MP made light of the fact that Kennedy Agyapong, the NPP’s failed presidential candidate, needed to host a reunion party for all of the MPs.
He teased Mr. Agyapong, saying, “The prodigal one should have declared his intention to be presido early, so the boys will follow you,” which caused the room to burst into laughter.
In a stunning turn of events, other lawmakers had to step in as peacemakers to keep things from getting physical when tensions reached a breaking point.
The focal point of the controversy was controversial lawmaker Kennedy Agyapong. It was reported that Agyapong had approached his colleague, Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro, to demand payment for debt, but Tetteh had rejected him. This led to tense but short-lived exchanges between the two during the assembly’s hearing.
