Assin Central Member of Parliament Hon. Kennedy Agyapong gave GhMillion to Mr. Kwasi Nti, the former chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party NPP in the Fomena Constituency of the Ashanti Region.

He claimed that after the NPP failed to give him the money they promised, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong acted alone to prevent the NPP from losing the Independent Member of Parliament for Fomena to the opposition National Democratic Congress NDC.

“The NPP promised me Gh¢Million cedis to step down as the party’s charman after the Fomena MP demand my resignation”

On Monday, Mr. Kwasi Nti said he requested around Gh2Million from the party to cover a debt he accumulated as the party’s chairman before he formally stands down. He was speaking on Kumasi-based OTEC 102.9 FM’s afternoon Politics show Dwabrem.

He explained to Prince Nii Ade(Dok. Cash), the program’s host, “I was reluctant to give in to their demands after repeated calls on me since the NPP did not fulfill the commitment they made, even after my resignation they still did not give me the sum they committed.”

“It took the aspiring presidential candidate of the NPP Hon Kennedy Agyapong to privately give me Gh¢ 1Million to defray my debt and I can assure you this gesture saved the NPP from major legal tussle”

His admission follows Hon. Kennedy Agyapong’s disclosure of the matter.

The NPP stalwart revealed the part he played in helping the party win the majority in Parliament while speaking with some party members in Tema.

Before the party won the majority, according to Kennedy Agyapong, he had to pay a debt of one million Ghana cedis due by the then-Constituency Chairman of Fomena.

In response to the news, Mr. Kwasi praised Hon. Kennedy Agyapong for his assistance in preventing the party from getting a majority in Parliament.
