The Mayor of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, popularly known as Zuba, has assured residents of Kumasi of improved sanitation in markets and major roads in the city.
Speaking on OTEC FM’s Nyansapo morning show hosted by KOB on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, Mayor King Zuba said he has promised Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II that he will work hard to keep Kumasi and the Ashanti Region clean.
As part of the plan, KMA workers will carry out cleaning exercises every Tuesday and Wednesday from now until December. The exercise will cover areas in front of Boss FM, Kejetia Market, Hello FM, and Melcom.
According to him Airport Roundabout and Manhyia Roundabout will also be cleaned every Tuesday, as these areas are key entry points for vehicles coming into the city.
The Central Business District of Adum, Kejetia, ‘Dr. Mensah’ and its environs remain choked as traders defy orders to leave unauthorized trading spaces.
Mayor King Zuba also revealed that roadside trading will not be allowed this Christmas. Certain roads will be temporarily blocked on Saturdays and Sundays to ensure order and public safety.
He further warned Pragia riders and hawkers that new rules will be enforced to reduce accidents and injuries, emphasizing that cooking and selling on the streets will not be permitted.
