Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, the CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), is the subject of an investigation by the Office of the Special Prosecutor for allegedly using program funds to support his own political campaign.
Sources at the Office of the Special Prosecutor provided this information.
In the Asante Akim Central constituency, Mr. Ofosu Nkansah is attempting to become the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate.
He is running against Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi, the current member of parliament.
The OSP took Mr. Ofosu Nkansah into custody on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. According to early reports, his arrest was related to his purported payment of bribes to NPP delegates in advance of the 27 January parliamentary primaries.
Ghanatodayonline.com has also gathered that Mr. Nkansah’s office was searched by officials from the OSP on Wednesday.
Felix Amakye, the Constituency Secretary for the New Patriotic Party in Asante Akim Central, accused the Asante Akim Central MP of reporting the NEIP CEO to the OSP.
Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, the CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), was arrested on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, but he has since been released from custody.
The Special Prosecutor detained Mr. Nkansah because he is a candidate for the Asante Akim Central parliamentary seat and is challenging Kwame Anyimadu Antwi, the incumbent. The allegations stem from the detainee’s purported payment of bribes to delegates prior to the NPP parliamentary primaries.
