Kufuor demonstrates his endorsement for Bawumia’s vision

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has praised Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), for his ideas and vision, calling them revolutionary for Ghana’s progress.

Kufuor formally delivered the NPP ticket, headed by Dr. Bawumia and his running mate Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, to the Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II, during a visit to the Ofori Panin Palace in Kyebi, Eastern Region.

The previous president praised Dr. Bawumia’s tactics, highlighting their capacity to lessen adversity and promote advancement.

Kufuor, affectionately known as the “Gentle Giant,” reflected on the accomplishments of his administration, which saw Ghana move from a HIPC economy to one that is lower-middle income.

As a basis for national development, he emphasized revolutionary programs including the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), free maternal healthcare, the capitation grant, and the school feeding program.

Citing the Free SHS policy as a historic accomplishment, Kufuor noted that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has extended this legacy.

Citing his work as Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, especially during a time when the exchange rate hit a noteworthy one cedi to one dollar, he commended Dr. Bawumia for his inclusive governing style and profound knowledge of economic management.

Kufuor urged Ghanaians to vote for the NPP in the 2024 elections, saying he was confident in Dr. Bawumia’s ability to lead the nation toward sustainable development and alleviate its suffering.

The Okyenhene advised Ghanaians to follow Kufuor’s counsel regarding Dr. Bawumia’s potential and praised him for his ongoing commitment to Ghana’s development.
