Movement for Change flagbearer Alan Kyerematen has stated that former President John Agyekum Kufuor’s endorsement of NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has damaged his political career.

The former minister of Kufuor’s administration stated in an interview on Oyerepa TV on Monday, November 18, that the esteemed stateman should refrain from supporting any candidates.

The former NPP member clarified that despite Kufuor’s illustrious career, his actions have allowed political foot soldiers to denigrate him.

“What he has done has created a big blot on his political career. You see how people are speaking against him. See how others are disrespecting him. For someone with a distinguished career in politics and everyone respect you.

“How do you now involve yourself in such matters and now everybody criticizes you anyhow,” Alan said.

He counseled the esteemed statesman to abstain from additional remarks.

“I can’t disrespect him. He is like a uncle to me. What he is doing is not right, he should stop it. He is the only person who know why he is saying such things,” Alan added.

Speaking to journalists on Sunday, Novemebr 17 Kufuor voiced confidence in the abilities of Dr Bawumia to lead the country.

According to Mr. Kufuor, if Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate, wins this year’s general elections, Ghana’s economy will undergo a radical change.

According to Mr. Kufuor, this could hasten Ghana’s economic growth.

“I have observed his remarkable abilities in economic enhancement during my tenure, as he was integral to the Bank of Ghana’s team under Governor Dr. Paul Acquah, contributing to the revival of the currency,” Kufour added.
