A group of irate youths abruptly interrupted a news conference that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kumasi, led by organizer Joseph Yamin, was organizing halfway through the program.

Visibly agitated, the young men stormed the arena and approached Mr. Yamin and his crew, accusing them of merely lip service to certain alarming stories.

They charged the leadership with not responding to allegations that people in the Ashanti Region were being sent to 32 constituencies under false pretenses of being military personnel.

The party would oppose any efforts to use the military to incite unrest, Joseph Yamin had already warned during the press conference.

The resentful faction, however, wanted more than just a news conference.

“This is foolish talk,” one of the people said as he kicked over a table among the chaos. What must you do if you want your party to win power?

He said, “This is not how you go about it,” as they called for the conference to end.

Attendees, including some party officials and media members, were frantically trying to leave the room as the sudden disruption forced the news conference to end early.

More ruckus was heard, so the gang locked up Joseph Yamin and John Kwame Jabari, the regional vice chair of the NDC Ashanti, after clearing the room. Ghanatodayonline.com called the Ashanti Regional Communications Officer, Abass Nurudeen but he refused to comment.
