Kumasi: One dead in clash between Adabraka and Pankrono

Following communal skirmishes between Pankrono and Adabraka youth that resulted in one being fatally stabbed, the Tafo Divisional Police Command of the Old Tafo Municipality of the Ashanti Region has detained two people.

The arrests were made in response to an unfortunate occurrence that occurred on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, evening at the Pankrono public restroom and resulted in the death of one Kwame Owusu, a local.

Following the strange death of an electrician in the region named Kwame Owusu on Thursday, October 19, 2023, the suspects were reportedly detained by the Tafo Divisional Police Command.

The deceased was allegedly given a suspected toxic injection by the suspects, whose names have been concealed, which caused his death.

According to some locals who spoke with OTEC News, the dead was a victim of a long-standing conflict between teenagers in Pankrono and youth in Adabraka.

They disclosed that a dispute between the two youth groups several months prior had led to a rift between the two communities.

However, they continued, some young people from Adabraka attacked the deceased on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, months after the initial altercation, and injected the deceased with what appeared to be poison.

According to reports, Kwame Owusu, 27, was killed after being attacked by some youngsters from the nearby municipality of Adabraka after using the restroom and before returning home.

In an interview with OTECNEWS, Nana Osei Agyemang Prempeh, a national security expert and opinion leader, emphasized that the police had detained two people who are reportedly connected to the murder in order to aid in the investigation.

Assuring the relatives of the deceased and the youth of the two communities to maintain their composure, Nana Prempeh praised the police force for its contribution to upholding peace in the Municipality.
On the other side, the deceased’s mother, Madam Ama Afrah, disclosed that Kwame Owusu had just returned from Qatar and was getting ready to fly to Dubai on October 19, 2023, the day after his passing.

“I heard about my son been attacked by a group and so rushed to the scene and met my son lying lifeless battling for his life, but he was already cold in nature”, she added.

Madam Afrah appealed to the police service and the entire national security forces of the country to make sure that peace is restored between the two communities, if possible impose curfew on the two communities to avoid future happenings.

She also entreated the police force to make sure they allow justice to take its course.
The youth of Pankrono have in other words vowed to descend heavily on anybody from Adabraka whenever they come into contact.
