Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, a former governor of the Bank of Ghana, has joined the NDC team in Kumawu in the Ashanti region to support the party’s candidate ahead of the by-election.
Dr. Kwabena Duffuor’s spokesperson, Antonio Edem Asinyo, said in a statement that his boss is dedicated to the NDC taking the Kumawu seat.
“Dr. Kwabena Duffuor will join the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on May 19, 2023, on the ground to advocate for the election of our parliamentary candidate, Kwasi Amankwah, as part of the NDC’s preparations for the May 23rd by-election in Kumawu.
“As a native of Kumawu, the former Governor of the Central Bank and former Finance minister is fully committed towards enabling our party to secure a victory in this by-election, particularly one involving his native people,” Mr. Antonio stated.
Dr. Kwabena Duffuor invited everyone to support the party and our candidate before, during, and after this election in order to strengthen our momentum before the 2024 general election.
The by-election, set for May 23, 2023, comes about as a result of the passing of the Constituency MP, who will be laid to rest on Saturday.
The NDC leadership has been in the area supporting the candidate, Akwasi Amankwa, and his campaign officials.
