The Kwadaso Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti Region has carried out a large scale clean up exercise aimed at promoting environmental hygiene and healthy living among residents, especially as the Christmas season approaches.
The exercise, held on December 13, 2025, mobilized community members across several key areas including Techiman-Denchemuoso, School Junction to the Police Station, and Prempeh College to Sofoline.
The initiative is part of the Assembly’s broader effort to maintain sanitation and prevent disease outbreaks in the municipality.
In an interview with Ghanatodayonline.com reporter Ama Nyame, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Eric Asibey, commended residents for their participation. He revealed that the Assembly has been organizing clean-up exercises regularly, particularly on the first Saturday of each month. He noted that only three electoral areas were left, and those have been prioritized as part of the Christmas clean-up campaign.

Hon. Asibey emphasized that the Assembly’s focus is on improving health and education outcomes. He addressed public perceptions that Kwadaso has high rates of diseases such as HIV, clarifying that the data is influenced by the presence of major health facilities in the municipality, which attract patients from surrounding areas. He also mentioned ongoing mosquito control efforts, including community fumigation, to reduce malaria risks.

Presiding Member of the Kwadaso Municipal Assembly, Hon. Ernest Frimpong, also urged Ghanaians to embrace a culture of cleanliness. He stressed the importance of maintaining a clean environment, especially during the festive season when tourists and visitors arrive in the country. He further encouraged citizens to adopt responsible civic behaviors, such as avoiding littering and open defecation, similar to standards in developed countries.
The Assembly hopes that the continued efforts will not only enhance public health but also project Kwadaso as a model municipality in sanitation and community engagement.
