The Accra Circuit Court 8 has convicted David Kwodwo Prah Afful, popularly known as Kwame Nkrumah II, on charges of offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace.
The incident started when Afful, who was clearly upset, threatened to harm government officials with a rifle or cutlass on a TikTok video that went viral.
He even claimed that he would set marketplaces on fire and target journalists and government employees who drive official cars with green license plates, all the while encouraging others to follow suit.
The Ghana Police Service responded quickly to the situation, apprehending him at his hiding place close to the Kasoa Market on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at approximately 2:20 p.m.
He was arraigned before the court, presided over by His Honour Amoah Hagan, on two charges, threat of death and offensive conduct.
While he pleaded not guilty to the first charge of threat of death, he admitted guilt to the second charge of offensive conduct. On his own plea, the court sentenced him to seven months imprisonment with hard labour. The case involving the first charge has been adjourned to 15th October 2025.
According to police report, the convict will be transferred to the Nsawam Medium Security Prison to serve his sentence.
The Ghana Police Service, in a statement, reaffirmed its commitment to upholding public peace, safety, and national security by ensuring that individuals who engage in acts that threaten stability will face the full of the law.
