The residents of Bawku in the Upper East have once again been urged by President John Dramani Mahama to embrace peace and unity for the advancement of both their village and the country.
President Mahama asked the rival parties in Bawku to give peace a chance in a speech given to the audience following Eid-Ul-Fitr prayers, which mark the conclusion of Ramadan.
He noted that the holy day is an ideal opportunity to promote harmony because it is a time for introspection, peacemaking, and religious reaffirmation.
After decades of bloody chieftaincy conflicts, President Mahama urged all parties to put aside their disagreements, prioritize communication, and strive toward enduring peace.
“And on this, I want to take the opportunity once again to call on our brothers and sisters in Bawku to give peace a chance. On this holy occasion, where we celebrate Ed-Ul-Fitr after the holy month of Ramadan, my brothers and sisters in Bawku, let us give peace a chance.
“Once again, I send my warmest wishes to all Muslims in Ghana and all over the world. Ed-Mubarak”, President Mahama stated.
