The nation’s Muslims have been urged to utilize the holy month of Ramadan as a time to pray for their loved ones and the country by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice president and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Muslims throughout the world have started their month-long fast during the Islamic month of Ramadan, and Ghana has also formally opened for business today. This comes after the National Chief Imam verified last night that the crescent was seen.
Dr. Bawumia and his wife sent a message to other Muslims encouraging them to pray for the country and their loved ones, to be deeply devoted, and to have compassion for the less fortunate.
“Hajia Samira and I are pleased to welcome the blessed month of Ramadan with great joy. Ramadan presents a unique opportunity for all of us to renew our commitment to Almighty Allah, and to show love and compassion to the poor and needy” Dr Bawumia posted on his Facebook wall.
The Vice President also exhorted Muslims to pray for their loved ones and their beloved country, Ghana, throughout this month of dedication and sacrifice.
