La Liga leaders Barcelona defeated Real Madrid in the El Clasico, scoring twice in three minutes thanks to goals from Robert Lewandowski. This victory put them six points ahead of their opponents.

Real wanted to reach 43 league games without a loss, which would have tied the record established by Barcelona from April 2017 to May 2018.

But their opponents’ terrible second-half performance dashed their aspirations of doing that.

Lewandowski scored a precise strike from Marc Casado’s through pass in the 54th minute to end the goalless first half.

Alejandro Balde’s cross was headed into the right corner by the Poland striker, who then startled the hosts with a second goal.

After hitting the woodwork with the first attempt and then shooting over from a decent position, Lewandowski had two wonderful chances to clinch a hat-trick.

Teenage Spanish sensation Lamine Yamal, 17, became the youngest player to ever score in an El Clasico when he drove into the top corner from an angle to give Barcelona the third goal.

Raphinha then scored his first goal against Real Madrid late in the game with a fourth goal.

With two goals disallowed for offside and another goal rejected by Inaki Pena in the Barcelona goal, the outcome guaranteed that Kylian Mbappe’s first taste of the renowned match ended in loss.
