Dr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah, a lecturer at Central University, has shot salvos at Francis-Xavier Sosu, the member of parliament for Madina, for his vulgar outburst on Dr. Ernest Addison, the governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG).
On Tuesday, October 3, as demonstrators marched to the Bank of Ghana, attorney Francis-Xavier Sosu used profane language against the governor of the bank, who is accused of mismanaging the institution.
To remove the Governor and his appointees, the Minority in Parliament is leading a protest.
A furious Sosu, who spoke in Ga, lost all sense of propriety and dove into the gutters, but he has since apologized for his foolish outburst.
Francis Xavier Sosu, a lawmaker for Madina Constituency, has expressed regret for his caustic criticism of the Akufo-Addo led government.
The lawyer-turned-lawmaker expressed his rage over the country’s dire economic situation in an interview with a GHOne TV reporter during the #OccupyBoG protest, which the Minority in Parliament organized on Tuesday to demand the removal of the Bank of Ghana’s governor from office.
His video attracted a lot of attention on social media almost away. Many users expressed surprise at the MP since they thought of him as a gentleman who was not known for using such language, while others condemned his remarks.
Lawyer Sosu said that he would have insulted them if he weren’t a member of parliament.
“If not for the fact that I am an MP, I would have said their mothers’…[insulting words referring to a woman’s private parts]…why are they making us suffer like that? They should get away; we’ve had enough of them…”
“I wish to sincerely apologise for my choice of words during my outburst yesterday, Tuesday, October 3 2023, during the Occupy BOG Demonstration,” he began a statement issued on Wednesday, October 4.
“I unreservedly apologize for my actions and words and ask that all those offended would find a place in their hearts to forgive me.”
However, Dr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah is less than thrilled by attorney Sosu’s apologies because, in his opinion, the MP has forfeited his right to be referred to as a “Honorable”.
He reacted to the MP’s actions on the “Kokrokoo” morning show on Peace FM by saying, “He does not deserve to be called Honorable. He tarnished his image.”
He criticized lawyer Sosu for acting improperly, pointing out that a member of parliament must always behave themselves properly.
He needs to hang his head in shame. It’s unfortunate. I’m very ashamed he could say such derogatory things.
