Sammy Gyamfi, the CEO of the Ghana GoldBoard (Goldbod), has received praise from President John Dramani Mahama for what he calls an outstanding beginning to the organization’s activities.
On April 2, 2025, the Ghana GoldBoard (Goldbod), formerly the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC), was formally established. It was founded with the intention of monitoring and controlling gold transactions throughout the nation.
Goldbod has only been in existence for a few weeks, but it has already made significant progress and produced outcomes that President Mahama has praised as outstanding.
“Mr. Sammy Gyamfi is the Chief Executive of the Ghana Goldbod, and he is already doing wonders,” the President said this during a speech in the Ahafo Region as part of his national “Thank You” tour.
The public has embraced Mr. Gyamfi, and many believe that Goldbod’s leadership has contributed to the recent strengthening of the Ghanaian cedi.
Both residents and market observers are optimistic about the local currency’s recent strengthening to about GH¢10 to the US dollar, after it peaked at almost GH¢16 to the dollar last year.
The central bank’s resolve to maintain the cedi’s recovery has also been underlined by Dr. Johnson Asiama, governor of the Bank of Ghana.
