Mahama appoints Maame Efua Houadjeto as Ghana Tourism Authority CEO

Mrs. Marilyn Maame Efua Houadjeto has been selected by President John Dramani Mahama to head the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA).

She was formerly the Deputy Women’s Organiser for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and was simply known as Maame Efua. In addition, she ran for the party ticket in the 2024 elections to represent the Mfantsiman constituency in parliament.

Maame Efua formed the Image Consortium Group in 2005, and she currently serves as its CEO.

She graduated from Coventry University in the United Kingdom, the Ghana Institute of Journalism, the Ghana Institute of Management & Public Administration (GIMPA), and Our Lady of Apostles (OLA) Girls Senior High School in Ghana.

She has experience working as a marketing and customer service professional for StratComm Africa, Media Touch, and Charterhouse Productions. She served as the MPlaza Hotel’s acting general manager for a year.

Following GTA CEO Akwasi Agyeman’s resignation last week, Maame Efua was appointed.

As one of 13 organizations under the Ministry of Tourism, Culture & Creative Arts (MTCC), the GTA is tasked with promoting and developing tourism in order to draw both domestic and foreign visitors and boost the economy.
