Teachers in Ghana have been promised better times under the incoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, according to former president John Mahama.
According to Mr. Mahama, as Ghana moves forward toward a more wealthy future, increasing education and learning must be a major focus.
“Teachers are the backbone of our education system, and we must provide them with the resources, tools, support, and training to enable them to deliver good quality education to our children.
“To this end, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) remains committed to investing in teacher education and professional development programmes,” the former President stated in a a press release to commemorate World Teachers Day celebration.
Referring to his pledge on page 69 of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s 2020 platform, former president John Dramani Mahama emphasized that it still holds true today.
He reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment to funding initiatives for professional development and teacher preparation.
These were stated in a statement made on October 5 to commemorate World Teachers Day by the three-time presidential candidate.
He urged contemplation on the dire situation of education in Ghana at the moment and advocated for changes to both teaching methods and student learning outcomes.
