A new leadership team has been chosen by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Majority Caucus in Parliament to guide the party and advance the government’s legislative agenda.

This shift follows a number of significant appointments made by President John Mahama throughout his administration, including the assignment of some Majority MPs to important ministry positions.

The appointment of Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, a renowned economist and former majority leader, to the position of Minister for Finance is generally seen as crucial to guiding Ghana’s economic recovery.

The caucus has chosen Mahama Ayariga, the Bawku Central MP, to take his place. Known for his keen mind and wealth of expertise, Mr. Ayariga has held prominent positions in the past, including Minister of Information, Environment, and Science, Technology, and Innovation.

His appointment shows that parliamentary affairs would be managed by seasoned leadership.

Additionally, Ellembelle MP Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah is moving from Deputy Majority Leader to Minister for Lands and Natural Resources as part of the reshuffle.

His deputy finance ministership is just one of the many years of experience that his replacement, Cape Coast South MP Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, brings to the table. His hiring, according to the party, will improve the caucus’ strategic emphasis.

South Dayi MP Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor has been named the new Majority Chief Whip, replacing Governs Kwame Agbodza, who has assumed the position of Minister for Roads and Highways.

It is anticipated that Mr. Dafeamekpor, a strong supporter of justice and governance reform, will contribute a vibrant edge to the whip role, encouraging order and unity within the caucus.

The First Deputy Majority Chief Whip is Ada MP Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe, while the Second Deputy Majority Chief Whip is Bia East MP Richard Acheampong.

The party’s dedication to regional balance and inclusivity in its leadership structure is demonstrated by their appointments.
