National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama has reacted to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the opponent of his New Patriotic Party (NPP), by accusing him of sidestepping important inquiries on his vice presidential record.

Speaking at a mini-rally in Savelugu, Mr. Mahama said he had asked Dr. Bawumia five direct questions about the nation’s economic situation and his administration’s performance.

But instead of simply responding, Dr. Bawumia responded with 50 questions of his own, according to Mahama.

In response to Mahama’s queries yesterday, Dr. Bawumia urged him to have a candid discussion rather than “relying on flimsy questions,” as he phrased it.

Mahama responded by saying that Bawumia could answer the main points he brought up without a dispute.

Mahama said that Bawumia’s long response appeared to avoid the urgent economic issues at the heart of his inquiries.

Mahama reaffirmed that in order to make his stance clear to Ghanaians, Bawumia should speak openly about his economic record without resorting to a debate.
