National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama has criticized President Nana Akufo-Addo for criticizing the NDC’s Greater Accra youth branch.

He claims that the president’s denunciation is hilarious in light of the fact that Akufo-Addo oversaw a horrific incident at Ayawaso West Wuogon in 2020 that claimed the lives of eight people.

Mr. Mahama went on to say that President Akufo-Addo did not express regret to the families of the eight individuals who perished in the chaos, which he claimed was state-sponsored.

“This is a bit rich, coming from the president who superintended the mayhem at Ayawaso West Wogon and has not had word of sympathy for the families of our 8 compariots who died from state-sponsored violence in 2020,” On November 28, 2023, Mr. Mahama made a post on his X page.

A group of opposition members with machetes was caught on camera brandishing lethal weapons during a recent clean-up exercise at former President John Mahama’s Accra home on Thursday, November 23, 2023.

President Nana Akufo-Addo has declared that his government will stop anyone or any group that engages in such behavior.

Speaking to the Presbyterian Church of Ghana’s Victory Congregation in Adentan Fafraha in Accra, Mr. Akufo-Addo mentioned the following during a farewell church service for the denomination’s departing Moderator, Rt. Reverend Professor Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante “It is my honest hope that the machetes and weapons brandished last week at the residence of the NDC’s presidential candidate, the former president John Mahama are not signs of things to come in the run-up to the 2024 elections elections”.

“If it is, I can assure them that they will find no success with them” President cautioned them.

“I want to state for the record that under my watch, no person or group of persons no matter their political colouration, will destabilise our country nor destroy the peace that all of us are enjoying”.

“It will not happen”, he added.

There would be no room for such behavior in the impending elections in December 2024, according to President Akufo Addo.

He underlined that any attempt to undermine stability will fail and reaffirmed his commitment to preserving peace throughout the election process.

The President restated the government’s commitment to improving the nation’s economic situation.

He said that the administration has turned the corner and found practical answers to the economic problems it faced during his second term in power, which is why the economy is recovering.

The National Democratic Congress youth wing in the Greater Accra Region has courteously questioned President Nana Akufo-Addo about whether he expects them to clean up after former President John Mahama’s Accra home with machetes or with a bread knife from Mrs. Akufo-Addo’s kitchen.

“If that was the case, what stopped him from sending any of his wandering elephant-size presidential staffers to make them available to us?” a statement signed by Amorse Amos Blessing, Regional Youth Organizer, said.
