President John Dramani Mahama hosted members of the Constitution Review Committee today for their first stakeholder engagement.
The Committee, led by Prof. H. Kwasi Prempeh, asked the President for his opinion on the review of the constitution and what he thought needed to be amended.
The Committee also used the opportunity to explain to the President what they had done so far and where they needed more help.
President Mahama expressed gratitude and satisfaction with the work that had been done thus far on the constitution review and promised his government’s ongoing support.
To strengthen Ghana’s governance arrangements, the President emphasized that difficult issues including the appointment of Ministers from Parliament, the emoluments of Article 71 office holders, and the election of MMDCEs needed to be amended.
