President John Dramani Mahama has ordered the National Investigation Bureau (NIB) to look into claims of misconduct in the distribution of overseas scholarships after statements were made during a radio discourse.
In a notice dated February 3, 2026, directed to the Director-General of the NIB, Government Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu, MP, stated that the President had noticed remarks made on Sompa 106.5 FM.
In the Twi-language programme, panellist and former CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme, Mr Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, claimed that someone paid money to obtain a scholarship to study overseas.
The President deems the accusation significant and a public issue, especially in light of the government’s declared dedication to transparency, integrity, and equal educational opportunities access.
The directive thus directs the NIB to promptly look into the claim, ascertain the facts, identify any individuals involved, and evaluate the validity of the allegations.
The Bureau has been requested to present its conclusions to the President for review and any additional actions considered appropriate.
