John Dramani Mahama, the former president and leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the biggest opposition party, has pledged that the next NDC administration will bring the fishing industry back to its heyday.
At a meeting with fishermen’s stakeholders held over the weekend at the Tema Fishing Harbour, Mahama made this declaration.
The stakeholders highlighted concerns about the issues affecting the industry during his visit, which was part of his “Building the Ghana We Want” campaign trip.
If elected, Mahama said that his administration would make every effort to lessen the suffering and hardship experienced by fishermen.
He underlined that the fishing industry will receive tangible support and revitalization from the incoming NDC government.
In an effort to lower industry accidents and protect workers’ safety and security, the former president also reaffirmed his commitment to arming the Navy to patrol different bodies of water.
