According to party presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will make significant investments in agriculture and agro-processing in the next government.

“We will not concentrate on agriculture only, but also focus on agro-processing to process the raw materials into finished products,” he stated.

As part of his two-day “Building Ghana Tour” in the Bono Region, Mr. Mahama gave a speech at Wenchi last Friday.

In order to encourage farmers to pursue commercial agriculture, he pledged to provide them with tools and equipment.

Speaking at a town hall meeting at the Wenchi Al Faruq College of Education, Mr. Mahama promised to revitalize the poultry business and cancel the licensing exam under the next NDC government.

The purpose of the tour is to gather public input so that the party can create a platform that puts the needs of the people first before the general election in 2024.

It is being used to establish venues where Mr. Mahama may meet and converse with local party members and supporters.

Mr. Mahama made a courtesy call to Osagyefo Ampem Anye Amoampong Tabrako III, the Paramount Chief of the Wenchi Traditional Area, on the first day of the tour.

Mr. Mahama also engaged in interactions with Muslim groups, traders, poultry farmers, artists, and drivers to get their feedback on the party’s platform.

In order to interact and hear their issues, he also made whistle stops at a few market places and localities.

Mr. Mahama traveled to Badu in the Tain District to express his condolences to the five families that lost loved ones to a downpour that struck the town during a football match that the Badu Traditional Council was hosting as a part of the celebration of the Fordjour Annual Yam Festival roughly two weeks prior.

Hundreds of eager spectators gathered on the street and road shoulders to have a look at his convoy.

Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the NDC, Julius Debrah, the former Chief of Staff, and a few other national and regional party executives accompanied him.

In the general election of 2024, the former president ran on a platform of reviving the economy.
