In the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa constituency, former president and opposition NDC flagbearer John Mahama has pledged to build a Gari Processing Factory if elected president.
Speaking at a small gathering in the Brakwa community as part of his Central Region tour, Mahama emphasized the region’s wealth of land and water resources, which he says will sustain a prosperous industry and lower unemployment in the area. “A strong economy is the foundation of a prosperous country. When the economy thrives, it creates money and jobs,” Mr Mahama stated.
To further support local industry and prospects for employment, he also pledged to build factories that process cocoa and palm oil.
Mahama further charged that current NPP government is mismanaging the economy and not fulfilling its commitments to Ghanaians. He pointed out that although the NPP in opposition said Ghana was not impoverished, now that they are in power, resources appear to be limited. “They claimed that Ghana was not poor, but now the money is nowhere to be found,” he stated.
In order to get ready for the general elections on December 7, the former president stated during the start of his three-day campaign tour in the Central region.
