John Dramani Mahama, a former president and flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has pledged to stop the rapidly rising costs of food and other necessities in Ghana and has accused the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government of being to blame for the nation’s present economic problems.
“I am clear in my mind what has to be done to halt the daily increase in the price of food and other essential commodities because of the economic mismanagement by the government of Akufo-Addo and Bawumia,” Mr. Mahama said in a message published on X (previously Twitter) on Sunday, September 22, 2024.
The leader of the NDC emphasized how vital it is to address the increasing suffering that Ghanaians are experiencing and bring back pricing stability.
He demanded a return to a time when people were not burdened by the dramatic increase in living expenses, especially with regard to food costs.
Mahama said “We must halt the hardship on people, and go back to the days of price stability.”
He suggested that the NDC’s Resetting Ghana Manifesto had the initiatives needed to address the country’s economic problems.
Mr. Mahama gave Ghanaians the assurance that the manifesto’s main initiatives will reset the economy and provide the framework for long-term, sustainable growth.
