In the event that he wins the presidency on December 7, former president and National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama has pledged to build social housing that is both really affordable and readily available for regular Ghanaians.
On Thursday, June 27, 2024, Mr. Mahama presented his ideas to the National Tenants Union on how he intended to create affordable homes around Ghana in order to alleviate the country’s housing need.
He emphasized housing’s significance as an essential necessity and pledged to make it a major legacy of his administration.
In order to stop renters from being unjustly forced to pay more than a year’s worth of rent up front, Mr. Mahama also promised to fight for the approval of the Rent Control Bill.
In addition to expressing sympathy for Ghana’s 19 million tenants, he pledged to work toward a better future for all Ghanaians, with housing playing a crucial role in that goal.
