National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama has pledged to form a Commission of Enquiry to look into claims of state land looting and to resolve the long-standing problem of expropriated Ga-Dangbe lands.

The NDC manifesto, which was unveiled at Winneba, Central Region, on Saturday, August 24, 2024, included this pledge.

Mahama’s promise is a reaction to mounting worries and claims that public lands have been embezzled by the Akufo-Addo government and those who work for them, with some of the acres purportedly being sold to friends. The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, as well as the administration, have categorically disputed these allegations.

Mahama maintains, nevertheless, that his government would look into these claims in great detail to see whether any public lands have been sold or bought illegally if elected on December 7.

He said the Ga-Dangbe lands had been a point of dispute for many years, and the Commission of Enquiry would be entrusted with finding the truth and offering suggestions to address these matters.

The flagbearer for the NDC underlined that public lands must be kept intact and that his government will see to it that any illegal transactions are dealt with.
