When he takes office, President-elect John Dramani Mahama has promised to address Ghana’s economic problems head-on by putting an emphasis on economic growth, stabilizing the cedi, and lowering inflation.

Mr. Mahama emphasized the necessity of swift action to restore the nation’s economic stability while speaking at his home on Thursday, December 12, during a courtesy visit by Algeria’s ambassador to Ghana, Mourad Louhaidia.

“We are looking to focus on bringing Ghana back up in terms of economic growth, stabilising the currency, and bringing down inflation.

“And this is the time Ghana needs to work even closer with its partners, including China,” the President-elect explained.

He emphasized how important it is to improve international cooperation, especially with China, in order to solve pressing problems and promote economic and technical advancement.

“So as early as possible, once we get the transition out of the way, it is our hope that we will be able to constitute a delegation to begin engaging with China on the issues of our technical cooperation,” he stated.

He expressed faith that the policies and foreign initiatives of his administration would help the people affected by Ghana’s economic hardships.

Ambassador Louhaidia congratulated Mahama on winning the election and gave him Algeria’s commitment to strengthening ties between the two countries for their mutual advantage.
