Mahama swears in Armed Forces Council members urges them to work with integrity

The newly sworn-in Ghana Armed Forces Council members have been urged by President John Dramani Mahama to carry out their responsibilities with discernment, honesty, and a steadfast dedication to serving the country.

President Mahama emphasized the council’s vital role in preserving Ghana’s stability, bolstering national security, and guaranteeing the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) function with the utmost professionalism during his remarks at the swearing-in event on Monday, March 24.

He emphasized to the council members that their choices would have a significant impact on the nation’s defense policy and the general health of the armed forces.

The president emphasized in his speech the council’s duty to safeguard and maintain the peace Ghana has experienced over the years.

He exhorted them to recognize and respond to new security dangers in a proactive manner.

The President stated that the Armed Forces Council must be vigilant and progressive in its approach to national defense in a time of changing security threats.

“The decision you make as a council will shape the future of our Armed Forces and it is therefore imperative that you approach this job with wisdom and integrity and a deep commitment to national service.

“In today’s world, the nature of our security threats are rapidly evolving. From terrorism and cyber-crime to political instability and climate-related security challenges.”
