President John Dramani Mahama has expressed gratitude to labor unions for agreeing on the 10% wage increase.
This year is a year of sacrifice, he said in his first State of the Nation Address in Parliament on Thursday, February 27.
“I am confident that the sacrifice we have all made this year will benefit our county going into the future,” he said.
“Together we shall build the Ghana we all want,” he added.
Prior to this, President Mahama gave organized labor the assurance that the government would refrain from unnecessary expenditure.
According to him, the administration is trying to revive the economy by tightening its belt.
Mr. Mahama made this revelation after exposing the former NPP government’s criminal handling of the economy.
He claimed that he was baffled by how the previous administration “was so reckless” in managing the economy.
