In the days that follow the creation of his Cabinet on Thursday, February 20, President Mahama is anticipated to speak to Parliament in his much awaited State of the Nation Address (SONA).

The speech will give an honest evaluation of Ghana’s economic situation and lay out the current administration’s plan for the country’s development, in accordance with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution.

“In a few days’ time, President Mahama will address Parliament and deliver a message on the State of the Nation.” The Minister of State in charge of government communications, Felix Ofosu Kwakye, stated following a Cabinet meeting.

But he didn’t say exactly when the address will be given.

Key government representatives briefed a high-level Cabinet meeting on urgent national challenges, including as the economy, security, and the eagerly awaited 24-hour economic project.

The Cabinet was reassured by security ministers during the meeting that Ghana is safe in spite of current threats. The National Security Coordinator, the Defense Minister, and the Interior Minister were among the security authorities who gave briefings on the nation’s readiness to manage possible threats.

In order to maintain stability as the Mahama administration’s first priority, they reaffirmed their faith in Ghana’s ability to prevent any security threats.

The 24-hour economy plan, a hallmark strategy intended to spur economic growth through 24-hour commercial activities, was a significant focal point of the Cabinet talks. Goosie Tanoh, the presidential adviser on the 24-hour economy, updated the Cabinet on the smooth development of the complete rollout preparations.

In a major step toward implementation, he said that the official roadmap would shortly be briefed to the country by a dedicated secretariat.

Ghana’s economic position is worse than previously thought during the election time, according to the Finance Minister’s gloomy assessment. He did, however, add that the administration is still optimistic in its plans for economic recovery in spite of the bleak financial view.
