In the Ashanti Region’s Asante Mampong Constituency, a group of irate National Democratic Congress supporters stormed the party’s office on Thursday, April 10, burning some objects outside and damaging property.
Although the Presidency had not issued an official statement, the young people asserted that they had learned that Esther Dwomoh had been nominated for the post of Municipal Chief Executive.
The current Constituency Chairman Mohammed Kamil, Imoro Iddrisu, and 2024 Parliamentary Candidate Yakubu Yakubu were all shortlisted following the vetting process, they claim, and they demand that one of them be nominated.
Although police were sent to the area, no one has been taken into custody.
Additionally, firefighters were sent to put out the fire that had started on one of the properties.
The event was confirmed by Kwaku Bernasko, the NDC’s Constituency Communications Officer for Asante Mampong.
There is a group of young people who are upset about a rumor that the Mampong MCE nominee was granted to a woman named Esther Dwomoh. To voice their disapproval to the present party executives, they came to the party office.
He explained, “Party property, such as tables and chairs, were broken and set ablaze at the forecourt of the party office; we couldn’t control the crowd.”
