According to Asante tradition, the Asantehene has been formally notified of the death of Mamponghene Daasebre Osei Bonsu II by the Bretuo Dynasty and the Mampong Traditional Council.

An era for one of the nation’s most revered traditional leaders comes to an end with the sorrowful statement made at the Manhyia Palace under the direction of Mamponghemaa, Nana Agyakoma Difie II.

The Silver Stool, a position of great traditional significance in the Asante Kingdom, was occupied by Daasebre Osei Bonsu, who until his death held the office of Vice President of the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs.

As the second-in-command in the Ashanti traditional system, he frequently represented the Asantehene in important customary matters.

Born on December 31, 1939, Daasebere Osei Bonsu ruled for 26 years before dying at the age of 86.

He was a lawyer and economist by trade before ascending to the throne, and he later held the position of Registrar at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. His name was Oswald Gyimah-Kessie.

Daasebre Osei Bonsu, who served his people and Ghana’s larger chieftaincy institution for decades, is renowned for his diplomacy and unflinching loyalty.

In keeping with the deeply ingrained traditions and respect shown to royals in the Asante Kingdom, the Asantehene was formally informed of his passing in the Manhyia Palace.
