Man shoots, kills son during altercation

According to reports, a farmer in his late 40s fatally shot his kid after a quarrel.

The son, identified as Ankoo, 25, reported  by 3news.com, passed away instantly in the Ahuntumanu village.

Assemblyman Stephen Ackah representing the community confirmed the occurrence and said that the suspect, uncle Awortwe, addressed his son about his misbehavior, which included stealing expensive stuff from his home whenever he visited.

He tried to seize his father’s hunting rifle on the most recent visit, but the latter became enraged and fired at him.

“According to the facts acquired, the now-deceased son’s negative attitude caused him to become a burden on his father.

He is from Kwesimintsim, and everytime he goes to see his father, he takes and sells practically everything from the house.

“His father has been complaining on several occasions, but he is not changing his bad attitude. So, it is alleged that he came to visit his father and exhibited a similar attitude; this time, he wanted to take his hunting gun away. His father got frustrated and shot him” Stephen Ackah was quoted on 3news.com.

The community members rushed to the area after hearing the gunshot, according to Stephen Ackah, only to discover his son dead in a pool of blood.

They hurried to their house after hearing gunshots, but all they saw was Ankoo’s lifeless body lying in a pool of blood.

He continued, “He was already dead.

The Ahanta West District Police Command has detained uncle Awortwe in the meantime and has started a probe into the regrettable incident’s circumstances.

The deceased’s dead body has been placed at the mortuary for an autopsy.
