A misunderstanding about a GH₵5 debt is said to have led to a knife assault on a 30-year-old’s neck.
Mama Mpe Hia, the victim’s nickname, has been used to identify him.
Reporting from Jaman South, the scene of the incident, on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Nana Kwame said the victim owed his assailant GH₵5 but had refused to pay.
According to the reporter, Mama Mpe Hia teased the suspect and wouldn’t give in whenever he pleaded for money.
According to Nana Kwame, the suspect, who goes by Adiyaa, complained to the victim that Mama Mpe Hia was constantly making fun of him when he came to seek for money.
But the day of the incident, the suspect reportedly drew a knife and stabbed the victim in the neck after the victim made fun of him.
The victim was sent to the Sunyani Government Hospital for emergency care after suffering a serious cut to his neck. He is still undergoing treatment there.
Residents are likewise surprised by the occurrence and curious as to how the suspect attacked his companion in that way.
The police have already taken the suspect into custody after he ran away. However, he is not assisting the authorities with their probe. New information also suggests that the suspect could be mentally ill.
