According to The Athletic, Manchester United and Barcelona have reached an agreement for a fixed fee of €75 million (£63 million, $75 million) for Frenkie de Jong.
Additionally, United is anticipated to pay an additional €10 million (£8.47 million, $10 million).
The signing of De Jong is Erik ten Hag’s primary objective this summer.
They must now convince De Jong to move to Old Trafford and come to a personal deal with the Dutchman.
The transaction is still being hampered by the €17 million deferred salary payment from Barcelona that the 25-year-old Jong is due.
De Jong made nearly 100 league matches for Barcelona after moving them from Ajax in 2019 for a reported £86 million.
De Jong’s position, however, was in risk due to Barcelona’s financial crisis, which included a $1 billion debt load and tight spending and hiring restrictions.
In Ten Hag’s Ajax team that advanced to the 2018–19 Champions League semifinals, De Jong was a shining standout.
