Former Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu has blasted Kissi Agyebeng, his successor, over the controversy surrounding his choice of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta as a wanted criminal in multiple corruption-related cases.

Amidu criticized Agyebeng’s remarks regarding Ofori-Atta’s cancer diagnosis in a strongly written editorial, according to asaaseradio.com.

“The Special Prosecutor’s remark was a mockery of a sick person’s health condition,” he said.

Former Justice Minister and Attorney General Amidu continued by warning Agyebeng from disparaging the ill.

He brought up the case of a Chief Justice who passed away from prostate cancer after reportedly making derogatory comments about another justice who had the same condition.

“But let Kissi Agyebeng be told that former Chief Justice I K Abban made light of Mr Justice G E K Aikins’ prostate cancer with disparaging statements about him. Justice Abban… also developed prostate cancer and died twelve days after being blackmailed to voluntarily retire,” There are quotes from the former Special Prosecutor.

On June 2, 2025, Kissi Agyebeng revealed that Ofori-Atta had told the OSP of his cancer diagnosis through his attorney when he declared him wanted for the second time.

However, he questioned the legitimacy of the justification, speculating that it might be a conscious attempt to avoid justice.
