Two other officers who were with the deceased and thought to be in his late 30s were not injured when the deceased military officer was shot and killed.

In the Gomoa East District of the Central Region, the incident took place in front of the Millennium City Police station, as reported by sources close to Ghanatodayonline.com.

According to information obtained by Ghanatodayonline.com, a brother of a military commander purchased land from certain chiefs in Millennium City; however, landguards resisted their attempts to develop the land.

After filing an initial report at the Millennium City District Police Command, the deceased military man drove to the location with two other police to find a permanent solution to the issue.

When the officers in a Toyota Rav 4 with registration number GR 3591-24 arrived at the location, they saw some people working there and told them to stop. They then planned to file a second complaint at the Millennium City District Police station, but Benlord Ababio, the Gyasehene of Millennium City, met them there and insisted they not go there.

When the police chose to drive to the Divisional command because their attempts at the District command had failed, he shot at the officers’ vehicle from behind after rejecting the chief’s plea, killing one of the cops.

“I saw the incident happen right in front of me,” an eyewitness described the incident to Ghanatodayonline.com. At the District Police station, Chief Benload Ababio spoke with the military commanders, urging them not to contact the Divisional Police Command, but they were unresponsive.

“While they were heading to the Divisional command just after moving their vehicle the Gyamehene Benlord Ababio fired at their vehicle just behind them leading to one of the officers dying in the process. Two other officers escaped unhurt but the chief was arrested immediately after the incident and sent to the Divisional Police Command.

He was later transferred to Accra Division by the police for fear of being attacked by the landguards in the area.”
