The absence of the Minority Caucus has caused a delay in the presentation of the 2024 mid-year budget review to Parliament.
The Minority MPs are reportedly protesting the hold-up in the payment of their common funds, according to media reports.
Today, Tuesday, July 23, 2024, the Finance Minister, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, is scheduled to deliver the 2024 Mid-Year Budget Review to the Parliament.
In addition to providing updated financial goals and an updated economic prognosis for Ghana, the presentation seeks to inform the House on the implementation of the government’s 2024 budget.
The Ministry stated in a statement dated Monday, July 22 that the review will offer an update on how the 2024 budget is being implemented as well as insights into the fiscal and economic performance of the first half of the year.
An update on financing, debt sustainability, revenue, spending performance, and growth metrics would be provided.
The minority members, on the other hand, are not happy with the prolonged delay in the common fund’s payment, since they feel it is essential to carrying out their legislative obligations.
However, Paul Twum-Barimah, the Member of Parliament for Dormaa East, informed media that the minority members are attending a caucus meeting rather than abstaining from the Finance Minister’s presentation.
