The second protest planned by the Minority in Parliament is aimed at forcing the resignation of Dr. Ernest Addison, the governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), and his two deputies.
The demonstration has been rescheduled for August 13 instead of July 30.
The National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) 2024 campaign will begin in Tamale on July 27, the Minority indicated in a letter to the police dated Tuesday, July 23. This is the reason for the postponement.
Many of the Minority’s members will be attending the campaign event, so they won’t have enough time to be ready for the demonstration, the group claimed.
“Given that this date is so close to our planned demonstration in Accra, the 27th July date has become inconvenient.”
“Pursuant to sections 1, 2, and 3 of the Public Order Act 1994 (Act 491), I hereby write to request for the rescheduling of the demonstration from its original date of Tuesday 30th July, 2024 to Tuesday 13th August, 2024, between the hours of 8 am and 6 pm. The route remains the same,” the letter stated.
