MoMo from MTN, MobileMoney LTD, has taken notice of recent social media posts instructing users to withdraw their money, alleging that MTN systems have been compromised as a result of a cybersecurity attack. To be clear, this information is entirely false, misleading, and, in some cases, possibly malicious.

We reassure our highly valued customers that the cybersecurity issue has not affected our mobile money systems’ functionality or security. The cybersecurity problem has not resulted in any customers losing any of their money; customer monies are safeguarded, and our mobile money platform is still safe and secure.
