Customers of MTN Mobile Money and Vodafone Ghana Mobile Financial Services Ltd (Vodafone Cash) are now able to pay at each other’s merchant point of sale thanks to interoperability services that have been enabled by MobileMoney Limited (MML).

This is a significant step in advancing the financial inclusion agenda of both organizations and the Government of Ghana.

On March 1, 2023, the service went live and is now accessible to all Vodafone Cash and MTN Mobile Money users. Users of both networks can now pay directly for goods and services at any merchant location in the nation that accepts MTN Mobile Money or Vodafone Cash.

Shaibu Haruna, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of MML, commented on this situation and said “this important first step is in line with the MTN Group Ambition of developing the largest financial services platform in Africa.  We are deeply committed to building an all-inclusive payment ecosystem that provides a platform for all players to flourish. We look forward to partnering with other players in the market to leverage off our distribution network to offer their services to customers”.

“At Vodafone Cash, we believe that partnerships are vital to providing access to financial services for everyone,” said Judith Adumua-Bossman, acting mobile financial services manager. We are committed to developing cutting-edge solutions that will assist our customers in more effectively managing their financial objectives. This new tool furthers our commitment to increasing accessibility, convenience, and value for our customers at a really historic time for us.
